Student Loans for continuing Education in UK
Student loans for the continuing education are available in UK with different beneficial modes to the students when compared with the other normal student loans. Students who started their course before September of the academic year are classified as continuing students.
The definition of a continuing student can include:
Those returning (to the same course) after suspending their studies
Students topping up (without a break) from a Dip HE, HND/HNC to a first degree or from a foundation degree to an honors degree
Gap year students
Students transferring from a course to a similar cours
The final decision as to whether a course is a similar course will be made by the relevant Local Education Authority/ELB.
Part time students are not eligible to apply for tuition fee loans with the exception of Initial Teacher Training students and those who change from full time to part time study temporarily. The later category should contact their local Education and Library Board to check if they are eligible to apply for a tuition fee loan.
